This BSI Flex specifies requirements for the operation of battery electric and hydrogen-fuelled heavy-dutyvehicles (HDVs), including various aspects of workshop, activities, risk management, planning,personnel, layout, systems and operations.

This BSI Flex also provides requirements for the management of battery electric and hydrogen-fuelledHDVs for commissioning, inspection, diagnostics, installation, repair and maintenance, disposal,transportation and documentation.

This BSI Flex covers the additionality of batteries and hydrogen gas as fuel sources in the context ofworkshops and protocols for maintenance and inspection. Where other fuels are used in combinationwith these fuel sources (e.g. diesel fuel for either plug-in hybrid electric vehicles or hydrogeninternal combustion engine vehicles), additional requirements for safety and inspection, diagnostics,maintenance and repair for those fuel sources apply.

NOTE 1: This BSI Flex acknowledges the work undertaken in the development of BS EN 13423, thestructure of which was used as the basis for this BSI Flex.
