Passivation of Corrosion Resistant Steels

AMS2700F results from a Five-Year Review and update of this specification that adds Ordering Information and changesparagraphs 1.3.1 Methods, 3.2.1 Corrosion Resistance, 3.2.1.2Water Immersion, 3.2.1.3.1 Copper Sulfate Test, and 3.2.2Surface Appearance. Appendix A was deleted.

Parts manufacturing operations such as heat treating, forming, joining and media finishing can affect the condition ofthe substrate for passivation, or if performed after passivation, could adversely affect the passivated part. Thesequencing of these types of operations should be specified by the cognizant engineering organization or purchaserand is not controlled by this specification.
